About Ligia
Ligia N. Cushman, a native Spanish speaker certified in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), holds a Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's degrees in Human Services and Professional Counseling. She's a transformational leader with over two decades of child welfare experience driven by her role as an adoptive mother. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Families Rising (formerly NACAC), Ligia collaborates with experts to provide technical assistance to jurisdictions. She focuses on improving outcomes for North America's children, youth, and families. Ligia strongly believes in transformational leadership as the key to child welfare reform, a belief nurtured during her participation in the Minority Professional Leadership Development Program - AdoptUSKids for professionals.
