Presentation Title: Ethics in Child Welfare, Adoption, and DNA Discoveries – A Panel Presentation, Panelist discussing “What is a Necessary Relinquishment?”

Bio: Jean is a domestic adoptee born and raised in Washington State in 1965 and had a largely positive adoption experience growing up. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Adoption Knowledge Affiliates, and has written a book releasing in April 2025, The Adoption Paradox. In the course of that process, she hired two University of Nevada, Las Vegas psychology students to help her amass an extensive amount of data and interviewed close to 100 people for the book including adoptive and birth parents, adoptees, therapists, social workers, and adoption allies. She currently lives in Southern Nevada with her husband and two dogs.
