Presentation Title: The Healing Power of Adoptee Friendship

Bio: Christine Murphy lives in Saratoga Springs, NY with her husband. She is a mom to 3 adult children. Christine’s adoption story is like many other Baby Scoop Era adoptees. Her mother was not allowed to see or hold her after the birth. Christine spent three months in foster care before moving in with her parents and older brother. Christine received a phone call in August 1992 where the woman on the other end of the line said, “I think you are my daughter.” In 2008 Christine wrote Taking Down the Wall telling the story of her adoptee truth. Christine has worked for over 30 years as a pediatric speech language pathologist. This work and her study of language development has had a particular impact as she struggled and searched for ways to express thoughts and feelings about her journey.
